Sir Ivor Roberts


Sir Ivor Roberts is a former British diplomat, who served as Ambassador to Belgrade, Dublin and Rome.  On retirement from the Diplomatic Service, he was elected President of Trinity College Oxford (2006- 2017). He was also Chairman of the Council of the British School of Archaeology and Fine Arts at Rome (2007-2012). Currently  a Patron of the Venice in Peril Fund, Chair of the Trustees of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, he was recently appointed Chair of the Keats-Shelley Memorial Association.  He is also editor of and a major contributor to the last two editions of the classic work Satow’s Diplomatic Practice, widely regarded as the definitive handbook for  diplomats. His book of memoirs of the Bosnian war, "Conversations with Milošević", was published in 2016.
